DOG DAYS OF SUMMER AT BUGABOO'S CATCH THE BUG CHALLENGE

Well, we have made it through the first week of school for the 2010-11 school year - woo hoo!!  This week was a bit crazier than normal because all my kids are in school at the elementary and my kindergartner only went 2 days this week instead of all 4 like the others due to staggered start dates for the kindergartners.  Anyway, no big plans for the weekend, which I am relieved about because it will give me time to organize my schedule for the school year and more importantly, time to stamp, color and CREATE:)

Today is a NEW CHALLENGE at CATCH THE BUG BLOG.  Our challenge today is DOG DAYS OF SUMMER (animals) using NEUTRAL COLORS PLUS 1 OTHER COLOR.  Remember that while it is not required of you to use BUGABOO IMAGES in your creations, we'd sure LOVE to see them.  You can stop by BUGABOO STORE to pick up this week's FREEBIE or you may also find FREEBIES at BUGABOO ON CDAC or BUGABOO ON PCP.  Also, if you do use a BUGABOO IMAGE, you will be entered into the challenge 2X for purposes of our random.org drawing to determine our winners.
I chose this ADORABLE BUGABOO IMAGE of Baby Mouse in Playpen for my card.  As you can see, my added color is pink.  I colored my image with Copics, Atyou Spicas and Sakura Souffle pens.  Image cut out using nesties.  Bo Bunny polka dot paper is cut using Nellie's Multi-frame die.  Bow is Offray satin.  Flower is from my stash, button is Denami Designs and tied embroidary floss through it.  Marianne Designs branch die used to cut branch out of Bazzill textured paper.  Cuttlebug EF used on 2nd layer.  Base is SU Kraft.  Flower DP is from SEI.  Thanks so much for looking and I hope you will play along with our challenge!  Remember to add your link to your NEW project using our Linky Tool at CATCH THE BUG BLOG.

This card was also made for the following challenges:
INCY WINCY DESIGNS - buttons and bows.

I'd also like to thank STAMPIN DRAGON DESIGNS, who are sponsoring our challenge this week and offering you this FABULOUS prize.  You can find the STAMPIN DRAGON DESIGNS BLOG HERE.  The BUGABOO DT were also fortunate to be given 2 STAMPIN DRAGON DESIGNS images to work with if they so chose, and I chose to do this cat image.

I chose to follow the same rules as the BUGABOO CHALLENGE - an animal, neutrals plus one color.  My color is Orange.  I chose to follow the WONDERFUL sketch from 2 SKETCHES 4 U  for my card.  I colored the image with Copics and ran kaleidacolor ink across the edges after cutting it out with Nesties.  DP is K & Company.  I used SU creamy caramel for 2nd layer that I embossed with Cuttlebug folder.  Flowers are Recollections.  Bazzill brown textured CS are used for base and behind DP.  Sentiment is from Lizzie Anne designs and is stamped in Memento rich brown, cut with nesties and kaleidacolor was run across cut out.  Hope you like it, I'm thrilled at how it turned out.   Thanks again STAMPIN DRAGON DESIGNS!!

TECHNIQUE TUESDAY AT SHELLY'S IMAGES

Happy Tuesday everyone!  I have a simple tutorial to share with you today.  Unfortunately, I cannot get my finished card picture to turn out very well - something with the lighting I'm using and I just am not that experienced of a photographer to figure it out. Today is a technique that I've heard called diamond dust and it's very simple and the results are cool:)
Supplies needed: Clear embossing or diamond embossing powder.  I used JudiKins Iridescent sparkle.  Versa mark ink and embossing gun.
Color and cut out your image.  I used this FABULOUS images from SHELLY'S IMAGES SHOP
Ink entire image with Versa Mark - make sure it's all covered.
Next, cover image with embossing powder
Heat with embossing gun until powder has completely melted.  You're left with a cool sparkly image:)
Here's my finished project, as I said, just couldn't get the lighting right, but I hope you get a feel for how cool it can really look.  I hope you enjoyed this!!
I colored the image with Copics, Atyou Spicas and Sakura souffle pens.  Sentiment computer generated and cut with SU punch.  Papers are embossed with Cuttlebug and Sizzix EFs.  Flowers, rhinestones and brads are from Doodlebug Designs.  CS used is SU not quite navy, old olive and yo yo yellow and Bazzill red.

This card is also for the following challenges:
CRAZY CHALLENGE - hearts and love
HANNA & FRIENDS - sketch
STAMPIN ROYALTY - colors not quite navy, old olive, daffodil delight and cherry cobbler or similar.

Thanks so much for looking:)

First of all, I want to apologize to my fellow DT members and Kelly and Kendra, the owners and wonderful artists of THE CHARACTER CAFE for my FEATURE FRIDAY post being so late.  As I've said before, I don't like to bring too much personal stuff into my blog because I like it to be about my projects, but sometimes, life throws you for a curve and things go a little haywire for a bit before they get back on course.  Anyway, I started having a bunch of anxiety issues late last week about my accident, and although I'm physically fine from the accident, the emotional toll has been worse than expected, but I'm working really hard to get through that.

The DT got to work with "Cindy" this week - she's sooo CUTE!!

ANOTHER CHALLENGE ENTRY - THE STAMPING BOUTIQUE IMAGE

What a bizarre week this has been!  I typically don't like to get into too much personal stuff on my blog, but I feel like you are all my friends so just a few more items to share.  Today, I have received 5 letters from lawyers and 1 letter from a chiropractor to go along with 10 or more phone calls starting this morning at 7:30am from lawyers and chiropractors wanting to "help."  It has been crazy - I have not been answering my phone!!  I am feeling more or less fine, so I do not wish to pursue any follow up help - just want things back to "normal."  My van will not be done being repaired until at least Sept. 2, and while the rental vehicle they gave me is fine, it's just not the same comfort level as driving my own vehicle.  *Sigh*

On a sort of positive note, I haven't been sleeping well, which stinks, BUT it has given me more time to craft!!  I made this card last night and really like the way it turned out:)  Please let me know what you think!
This SUPER CUTE image of "Farmer Audrey" is from THE STAMPING BOUTIQUE, one of my FAVORITE places to shop!!:)  I colored her with Copics and Atyou Spicas and cut her out using Nellie's multi-frame dies, then daubed with SU lovely lilac.  Sentiment is from Hero Arts clear stamps, stamped in SU night of navy and daubed with same.  It is cut out with nesties tag die.  Paper is SU lovely lilac and DP and base is Bazzill textured blue.  Buttons are Basic Grey and lace is from my stash.

This card was made for the following challenges:
STAMP WITH FUN - lilac and blue
MY TIME TO CRAFT - farm fever
PAPERTAKE WEEKLY - something old (SU DP), something new (sentiment stamp), something borrowed (sketch idea) and something blue (papers, button and ink)
DIGITAL TUESDAY - lace (or butterflies or both)
A CRAFTY LITTLE PLACE - 1 tag on project
